So, it is 65 degrees in Feb in NJ, wow! Since I am trying to get the Camaro in local St. Patricks parades, I had to make sure it is all ready. March 11 is not too far away! So a little carb cleaner in the vent hole to free up the float and clean the evaporated gas residue, then some gas down the vent to make sure float was free. Then spun it up for oil pressure and started right up! Took it for a spin around the block and all systems are a go. Slight gas hose leaks, just had to tighten up the clamps.
Now to give it a good cleaning and waxing and should be ready to go! Earliest I had it on the road (changed the oil a couple weeks ago when it was another warmer weekend)
I had mine on the driveway freshening it up under the hood. Some soap and water then rinsing without excess splashing. Looks better. In the past few weeks I had the wheels removed to clean them thoroughly inside and out. Got them back on yesterday evening. Because I remain employed time is limited. One of these days I'm gonna retire.
Maybe can take it for a ride tomorrow afternoon. Supposed to be sunny and 70+ degrees.
still some salty roads here in south Central PA. they used that 'brine' spray for the one and only snowfall 2 weeks ago. before the storm you see these white racing stripes on the road from the spray. they still spread regular salt/sand too.
they say the brine spray is better as a pre storm treatment but not sure if that will mean more rusty under bodies.
maybe its the ploy to bring back Rusty Jones !
Yes, weather was great here in Maryland too....got some "hunny do's" done and today I get to finish the Camaro....I hope. Already feels nice out, I heard almost 70 today
Drove mine yesterday, did 2 launches through 3rd gear, nice tracks btw, left the neiborhood and heard the left front brake grinding, got it home ready to buy another caliper and rotor ( these are 2 years old) looked up and the bolt that holds the caliper bracket had backed out and was hitting the rotor, tore it up. Bought a new rotor and a set of pads and zwas back out for another ride today! We hit 64 yesterday and 66 today. Never thought i would be doing a brake job in February without a coat on.
Similar thoughts here, got her out on the driveway and did a little garage reorganization but the roads here have a fresh coat of salt from a couple nights back and not enough rain to clean them off yet, but soon enough they will be clean and we can move on down to the summer place.
Finally finished waxing and cleaning the exterior. Waxing with carpal tunnel HURTS, had to keep taking breaks. But having it up on the lift helps when working with the lower part!
I took the z out yesterday for a quick spin. But i basically spent the past two and a half days in the garage. Garage is in maybe the best shape since i moved in lol. And got a lot done on upcoming z improvements. So nice out and looks like more nice weather this week.
Kevin did you see they are doing a monthly cruise night right by my house this summer? Maybe i'll push the 67 over lol
I had the boat out on the river Sat and Sun, I've never been out in Feb in NJ before. I saw quite a few classic cars out for their first drives of the year though.
Like some others, Saturday I started mine up and backed it out of the garage and let is run for a bit. But there is still way too much salt on my street to take it out for a drive. I was tempted but the street I live on doesn't get much thru traffic so the salt is still all over the road surface. Was odd to have the car out in the driveway with snow all around it.
It's been unseasonably warm here, too. I've been tempted to get mine out, but until the spring rains wash all the salt and sand they've put on our roads, mine's staying in the garage. I'll bet it felt good to take a spin, though!
Beautiful car Kevin. Still lots of snow and salt here but the temps were good enough to air out the garage! Hope to rearrange the 4 vehicles in my 3 car garage so I can get to working on my project this weekend.
What are you working on Brent? 6 hours? Do you work? LOL.
I bet that Phil watched someone work on his for a few hours.
