Trans Am rear spoiler on 69 Camaro.....

Hey guys, I have been toying with the idea of a 69 Trans-Am spoiler on my 69. I really wanted to step away from the original look and go with somthing a little different. I have been able to find only a handfull of 69's that have these spoilers, and in my opinion, I think they really set the car off. HERE is one I think looks killer. He is RichieFlorida from here on the boards.

Is there any other types of spoilers that would work in the same application other than the stock 69 one? I honestly don't know of any other than the 69' T/A. It seems I saw a unique one on a 68' in Camaro Performers mag a few months back. It was a blue car (awesome ride BTW) and had an adjustable stainless spoiler on it. I wouldn't even have the slightest clue as to where to start looking for that one.

Opinions please.

Thanks for your time,

Joe

Re: Trans Am rear spoiler on 69 Camaro.....

How about the third-gen rear spoilers that came on the 91-92 Z28's? Would they be too wide or too narrow from left to right? (quarter to quarter)

I like the third gen idea better than your other choice. Good Luck

I think the 69 Trans Am spoiler looks great, and should bolt right in. (not sure if it would align with the stock spoiler cutouts in the underside of the deck lid, but I bet it would)

Re: Trans Am rear spoiler on 69 Camaro.....

Thanks for the comments guys. I kinda get the same opinions when I ask the local guys. Kinda mixed results, but I don't have a picture to show most of them.

Todd, are you talking about the high rise spoiler similar to the T/A spoiler? I would assume since the standard 3rd gen spoiler is a 3 piece design and comes down the sides of the quarter.....I'd have a hard time making that work.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it,

Joe

BTW....here is the look I am going for.......

Joe,

No, not the 3-piece spoiler, the one-piece tall spoiler found ONLY on Z28's from 91-92. The RS has the 3-piece triangular "fin" shaped spoiler if you will.

My 2 cents........I don't like it.....go with the original or go naked. I haven't decided which way I will go yet.

I'll assume the spoiler on the silver 69 is from a T/A. The spoiler on the third gen looks just like it only 21 years older, which means it's bulked up a little. If you're gonna do that spoiler do the skinny one (T/A) not the fat one.

I think I will go naked until I can figure out what I want to do. I just don't want the stock one...... I just don't want to be like everyone else.

Todd.........

Isn't the 3rd gen nearly exactly the same as a T/A spoiler? Well, I mean the same style? It looks to be a little taller, but basically the same.

To be honest, I think I actually like it. I wonder if there is a place to get measurements?

Re: Trans Am rear spoiler on 69 Camaro.....

If it doesnt fit it will prob be too long. It would be easy to cut out a small section and put it back together. If it doesnt fit the countour of the trunk lid that would be more involved. I still think the 1st gen TA spoiler looks the best, it was ahead of its time. One thing I always liked about 1st and 2nd gen Firebirds and TAs were they did look upscale compared to their Camaro brothers. Camaros looked sportier of course. Im surprised firebirds dont get as much love today.

I'd like to hear the story on that if anyone knows.
