69 Sheet Metal Stamping Locations

Looking for sheet metal stamping locations on my 69. These were pretty easy to find on my 68 but not having any luck on the 69. Build date is October 1969.

I am thinking the repaint that was done by previous owner may have inadvertently filled these, or they are different locations than a 68. Just need to know where to look on each part. Thanks in advance!

Re: 69 Sheet Metal Stamping Locations

Found an earlier post by Garth by searching under Body Panel Stamp instead of sheet metal.

"Most, if not all factory panels have a date stamp as described above. I'll attempt to describe the locations;

hood- on the fender jamb, rear corner. The the faded red pic from CRG is a hood.
fenders- hood jamb towards front near the header panel. The gold pic is a fender.
doors- on the interior side center, near the door pulls.
quarter panels- corners of trunk jamb, near the hinges.
trunk lid- center, towards the bottom (with lid up). Below jacking instructions.

They can be difficult to see under multiple coats of paint or modern day base coat/clear coat finishes."

So, Are all body stamp codes supposed to match? I found an H34 on my trunk and an H35 on one of the rear quarters. Again, the car has been repainted and very hard to read.

Re: 69 Sheet Metal Stamping Locations

Great stuff! Thanks for chiming in.

So the sheet metal (stamped with "H") in my car was made at the Hamilton/Fairfield Stamping Plant. It was located at the corner of Ohio 4 and Symmes Rds. in Fairfield, Ohio.

Great pictures of how the abandoned plant sits now! Would love to drive her up there now and take some cool shots!

Re: 69 Sheet Metal Stamping Locations

That's a theory on the name and location of the stamping plants, but not definite in the absence of any GM records or recollections of workers BITD.

Re: 69 Sheet Metal Stamping Locations

Found another stamped location behind license plate on right side of gas nozzle. It appear to have to characters "AA" and then 35. So possibly my car has sheet metal from 2 different plants.
