Cool Do I really need a PCV valve in my SBC?

I am trying to plumb and fire up my freshly rebuilt 406.My valve covers only have 1 hole per side that has a breather installed unlike my zz4 that had two one for PCV the other for a screw in cap.If i have to have a PCV can i remove one breather and try to find a rubber gromlet the right size to accept my PCV valve.I am having trouble finding a barb fitting to screw in my intake behind carb. going to brake booster to clear my hard line to nitrous plate.Where else on motor can i get a vacummn for my brakes?

Re: Do I really need a PCV valve in my SBC?

do you need a pcv? no, as long as you have breathers. but, without pcv you will get build up of gunk and crap in your crank case over time. so it would be better to have a pcv to suck some air thru there and get the crap out

and you can get vacuum for the brakes from any larger fitting on the intake or carb, if you want specific answers you would need to post what type of intake and carb you are using

Re: Do I really need a PCV valve in my SBC?

i would not run a pcv valve on a nos motor. youre basically pulling in a fine mist of oil with a pcv ,right into the intake, and putting it into the combustion chamber .if you even have any blow by and get even a drop of oil in the chamber, it will effectively reduce octane to where you could easily detonate, especially on the bottle .theres no need to run one on any type of performance motor in my opinion .maybe if you werent running nitrous but def not if you are
