piston to deck height clearance for sbc
What is the typical piston to deck height clearance for a 350 block? Is it .040"? I am putting together a 383 with my engine program and with 64 CC vortec heads, a .040" depth for the piston in the bore, 12 CC dished piston, and a .015" head gasket, I am getting 9.96:1 CR which is exactly what I want. I want to stay as close to my target of 10:1 CR as possible. Am I right in assuming a .040" clearance? How much could it be off from that? FYI, have a 1970 350 4 bolt main block that has never been machined.
