Re: Redemption Build

Looking good- I've got the same combo (6.0l/4l80e) going in my '69. A few questions:

-What are you using for a harness? I've got the stock harness that I'll likely send out to be modified.
- Which Sanderson headers did you use, and how are the clearances? They don't list application-specific headers.
- How's the clearance on the 4l80e vs the tunnel?

My harness came with the engine so it was pretty much free. I have about 8hrs cutting, soldering, repining the ecu connector so far. ECU placement is the major issue in the wiring. Lots of little things that add up, bosch injector pigtails (which i robbed from a e36 BMW harness i had) etc.. I dont knwo what it cost to have someone else do it.. but right now mine is still considered.. FREE

I thought i posted it here but i guess not. (protouring.com thread)

I havent noticed an issue, from what ive read, you just get some 90* fittings for the transfluid lines and the lokar 36in dip stick. I did cut the "Ears" off just because everyone said so. It is needed.
hope it helps.

Also im not a fan of the Vette accessories. You may want to try the fbody style. I used the vette's thinking it would have more room for a later turbo project but, i dont think its enough.

Re: Redemption Build

I've got the stock harness, but I need to switch the injector plugs, move the ECM, etc., so I'll be sending it out. A lot of the plugs seem to be extremely brittle, so I think they need to be looked at anyway. I'm seeing prices in the $350-400 range for modified harnesses, which is money well-spent for me....lol

There's some killer clearance on those headers. I'm looking at the 1 5/8" tube shortys, which will make it just a bit tighter, but it'll still have more room than all the long-tube headers I've seen. The other PITA with the long-tubes is that you've got to yank the steering box to get most of them in. Those shortys look like they'd drop right in from the top or the bottom.

I've got the stock truck accessories, which everyone says don't work well because the alternator sits too high, but looking at that Corvette setup, I'm not so sure I believe that. The power steering box is lower on the truck setup than on the Corvette/F-body setups, but I'm going to see if it fits before I start buying other accessory kits. I know the AC compressor will have to move, but that's a given with the F-body setup as well.

Re: Redemption Build

I've still got to figure out my waterpump- the truck pump supposedly crashes into the throttlebody when you put the LS intake on. I got the intake last night, so I may mock it all up to see what the interference is. Someone else on one of the sites said it can be made to work with just some minor grinding at the outlet- we'll see.

Re: Redemption Build

Looks like i get to cut the floor.

Moderator note: Matt ended up selling the build and moved on. He asked that we delete the thread and we did, but people kept asking me about the radio and other aspects of his build and felt enough time had passed to heal the wounds. I emailed Matt a while back asking if he cared, guessing no response means yes so its back for reference.
