Verifying a trim tag

I'm new to the site but I'm trying to verify my trim tag. I bought it advertised as an original RS/SS car. From what I've found its definitely an SS but not sure on the RS. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Verifying a trim tag

Welcome Josh,

One of the mods will be moving this to the tag team forum where this will get more discussion... Until then, your tag does include the RS option, a 4 speed manual and until you dig further it could be an SS350 or a 275hp 327 referred to as an L30/M20. Either way nice options...

Verifying a trim tag

I'm new to the site but I'm trying to verify my trim tag. I bought it 2 years ago advertised as an original 1967 RS/SS car. Its in amazing condition and only 46k miles. From what I've found its definitely an SS but not sure on the RS. Not sure if you need the VIN but Any help would be much appreciated.

I would not agree with that. 2L and 4P means it could be either a SS350 or a L30/M20.

Re: Verifying a trim tag

For an SS small block the Engine pad should have an MS or ML if it has air conditioning. It should also have the partial vin if original. Can Also check for a 12 Bolt rear.

Re: Verifying a trim tag

4P means its equipped small block equipped engine with a radius rod, various models use that code a various times of the year. 350 SS all transmissions most of the year, after mid December 66, L30/M20 (Saginaw 4 speed) md December to end of production, and even the very early Z28s made at the end of December66 , early January 67 all used it. If it has the original engine, its easy to tell what it is. Fisher used those codes on the trim tag and they could care less what engine was in the car, unless they had to do some extra work to fit it, like install a radius rod bracket to the floor board, or paint the car different (like a 4N, 4K code) for radius rod and black tail panel, or 4L for radius rod and Z28 stripes.
