Ladder bars vs. Traction bars

Anyone have any opinion as to which on is better? Ladder bars (Lakewood) or traction bars? I am trying to decide which ones to put on my 70 Camaro 383 stroker (475hp).
Thanks Dan

Re: Ladder bars vs. Traction bars

Depending on the type of ladder bars, traction bars at least allow some degree of body roll. Most ladder bars don't, which can be dangerous on the street.

In addition, unless you use "floating" spring perches, ladder bars bind up a leaf spring suspension pretty bacly.

I'd go with Cal Tracs or Slide A Links with your combo.

Re: Ladder bars vs. Traction bars

I'm having pretty good luck with the CE-2101's I put on my 67. Not sure which one would work for you but these have a J-bolt and hit the snubber right on the spring eye.
My suspension now reacts very well. There is a marked difference between these and my Lakewoods.

Note:
CE's customer service was very bad. The J-bolts they supply sucked. They didn't fit well and it was hard to get them on. I took the J-bolts to a local place here and had them make me some that fit better. Then the 2101's dropped right in.
You may have to use wedges to space the snubber to the gap you prefer. I used wedges and I used Energy Suspension snubbers, they are much shorter than the CE/Lakewood ones.
Anyway, just what I've eperienced lately.
