Installing parking brake

I am putting in a new parking brake assembly in, in my 1969 Camaro. The cables are already inplace, but am putting in a new assembley under the dash. How hard is it to remove the cable at the end of the pedal. The old one is currently hooked up, but unbolted from the firewall. The current one is nasty looking and the return spring does not work either. Thanks, Jerod

Re: Installing parking brake

Yep, it's real tricky....I lost my retaining clip when it flew off when I let the brake pop back up when I pulled the release handle. The cable disconnected right there. So, look for that little retaining clip as in the below pic and take it off...your cable will come off easy after that. Be sure you've loosened the park cable under the car first so there's lots of slack. Make sure you remember how that clip comes off, take a pic of it before taking it off. Not easy to get back on if forgetting how it goes back. Also, the park brake light switch paddle goes on in a tough way...if you have one...
