Re: rear leaf spring rebuild

Tom

Hopefully you marked all the leaves as to which spring they go with and also front to rear. Take some time and fit all the leaves together making sure there won't be gaps inbetween them when you tighten them up. If you have issues with a couple not fitting well you can rearc them to fit with a one handed sledge hammer and anvil. It's not rocket surgery, but takes a little experience.

The center bolt draws all the leaves together. The head should be on the top side of the spring. Get it good and tight and then give the end of the bolt a couple whacks with a hammer so the nut won't be able to back off.

If they provided clamps, use C-clamps or big vise grips to squeeze all the leaves together as tight as you can, where the clamp will go, so when you install the clamp it won't be loose. When you release the C-clamp the leaves will expand a little against the clamp making everything nice and tight. Should be a clamp front and rear for each spring.

Check your local brake/suspension shops that rebuild truck springs.
