BF Goodrich P235/60/R15 tires on 15x7 steel corvette rally wheels

Would like to know what brand tires you guys think I should go with for this combination steel corvette wheel and tire size for my 69 Camaro coupe with factory suspension and 5 leaf rear springs? BF Goodrich T/A are high on my list but I am open for any other sugestions.

I found the Donlop GT Qualifiers to ride nicer and handle about the same. Very few have problems with 235/60/15's on a '69 with a good condition suspension and bushings. The BFG's are the more popular and are now being made by Coker...

Code "AG" 1968 Corvette 15 x 7 rally wheels have an offset (-.28") that is very different than code "YH" and "FW" Camaro/Nova 15 x 7 rally wheels (+.30"). This is why the 15 x 7 Corvette rally wheels can accommodate a 3" trim ring. The Corvette rally wheels will make the tires stick out further from the car. Be sure to use Camaro/Nova rally wheels.

Re: BF Goodrich P235/60/R15 tires on 15x7 steel corvette rally wheels

Steve,
I have BFG 225/60/15's on 15 x 7 rally wheels on one of my 69's and 235/60/15's on 15 x 7 rally wheels on the other and they both look great. Nearest I can tell, the 235's are approximately 1/2" wider and 1/2" taller than the 225's. If your suspension sits a little higher than stock, go with the 235's and if it sits stock heigth or lower, go with the 225's. Note that the 225's cost about $10 more per tire---- why, I don't know. On my 68 Camaro, 235 60 15s rubbed very slightly in the front, so I replaced them with 225 60 15s.

Thanks for the info. The 15x7 corvette rally wheels are FW code if that helps?

The FW are not vette wheels, they were on the bigger Chevy's and their back spacing is identical to the '69 Z/28 YH wheel.

If I am not mistaken, the Corvette Rims are coded AG.
Hope this helps.

Qualifiers have been discontinued....

BFG still shows T/As on their site. Is coker just selling them or are they now making them?

The Firestone Indy 500s are nice and deserve a look.

Correct - see my earlier post.

AG = 1968 Corvette 15 x 7 rally wheels
YH = 1969 Camaro 15 x 7 rally wheels
FW = 1970-1972 Nova, Monte Carlo, etc. 15 x 7 rally wheels (same specs as YH)

BFG's are my favorite, Dunlop's handled well, but lasted half as long for me.

In the area of the valve stem are the stamped codes. They typically straddle the stem hole (some codes on one side, more on the other). If the wheels have been repainted, you may have to scrape because it doesn't take much paint to fill them in.

Thanks, I didn't know that about the qualifers... Good question about the BFG TA's, a while back folks were posting that they couldn't find a lot of sizes in stock. At the same time Coker started selling them. Now most places seem to have them back in stock.
