1991 Camaro Engine Swap (88 IROC engine)

Hey, been a bit, been busy... Anyway I want to ask about engine swapping. I am buying an 88 IROC-Z TPI engine, 350 block, and I am buying trannie, and differential, and maybe engine mounts from the iroc.... if needed. I want to know what I need to transplant it, what other parts (Assuming the engine is full working order, it isnt right now, rebuilding it). I dont want to place the engine in and then have my front end to low, scraping against the ground, or have it not work because i am also changing it from auto to manual. Also i dont want my stopping to suddenly get so horrid I cant stop, also I dont want to have my guages not being calibrated for the engine... any help would be appriciated

cheers

Since you're going from a V6 to V8, everything you can think of will need to be changed.

ECM, engine wire harness, accessory brackets, radiator, alternator(maybe), coolant hoses, engine mounts. These are just a few I can think of. Is the donor car in your posession? If it is, this will make the conversion much easier.

As far as gauges go, the sending units for them go with the car, not the engine.

alright. the donor car is missing a few things (in the scrapyard).. its missing: ECM (has wiring harness still, ECM is missing, probably in the car somewhere, just cant find it, someone took parts off and threw them everywhere in the car), top plate for the throttle body, throttle body bolts, intake bolts, AC bolts, AC belt, Dual electric fan assembly, and intake piping. it has everything else... how much would the ECM cost to get?

Repaired ECM's can be bought aftermarket for under $100, but need a core. Be sure to get and take the piggyback controller made by Bosch on the ECM. You'll need its wire harness as well.

Also, fuel tank pump for your TPI MPI.

Only if the part/service number of the mentioned controller crosses to the donor car. And what processing chip is inside under the cover?

It is not from the same car but I heared it will work with the engine. I just want to confirm that it will work with the 350/305 that I am looking at in the IROC
