wiring for Sun Super Tach II-- what wire goes where?

I just purchased a used Sun Super Tach II, it has 4 leads coming out of it. It's been 25 years since I've installed a tach, can anyone tell me what wire goes where? One lead is red (hot wire to fuse box, correct?), one is black (ground, correct?), one lead is green, one is blue.

Thanks for the help-Terry M.

Green to neg coil terminal ... Black to ground... Red to switched 12 volts ... Blue for illumination ... tap off dash or accessories lighting

Thanks so much, I'd like to get this tach installed this afternoon. What's the best place on the fuse box to wire in the hot wire-- 10A, 15A, 20A?

Re: wiring for Sun Super Tach II-- what wire goes where?

When tapping off a fuse socket, remember that the socket has a "always" hot side "upstream" to the fuse. The opposite, downstream side is only hot when the fuse is good. If you tap on the always hot side, it doesn't matter what rating the fuse is since you won't be drawing power thru the fuse . If you get on the downstream side of the fuse, I would go with a higher amp choice. But remember, the connection ought to switched ... To be clear, when I say upstream, I mean the side of fuse that will always have power. Downstream is the side of the fuse connector that has power only when the fuse is intact. Upstream, downstream, the socket should only have power when the key is on.

Re: wiring for Sun Super Tach II-- where should I attach the blue wire?

I have the tach hooked up and working, the only thing left is the blue wire for illumination...I can't find a convenient place to splice it in, I don't want to cut my wiring any more than I have to. Where should I attach it? (this is a '68 Camaro).

Re: wiring for Sun Super Tach II-- where should I attach the blue wire?

What model year is it? Does it have glass AGC fuses? There may be a tap for instrument lamps on the fuse block. Could also buy a little metal tab that plugs in around the fuse that you can hook a wire to. If you're looking for a place to splice into, consider the ashtray lamp circuit.

It's a '68 Camaro, I'll have a look & see if there's a place to connect power for instrument lamps on the fuse box, or possibly ash tray lamp wire--

Thanks Terry M
