Platinum standard PUI door panels?

Just looking at Ricks new products and came across these Platinum door panels. Pic looks a lot closer to original GMs than the previous repro one. Anyone see these in person?

Re: Platinum standard PUI door panels?

I wonder how those compare to Classic Industries set (or are they from the same manufacturer)?

Ricks @269.99 / pr:

Looks very close and the price is similar...

Re: Platinum standard PUI door panels?

The pic from Classic look like the incorrect foam ones (the pleats have a puffy rounded look) The ricks pic is more flattened like the origin (my .02 )

Doesn't even look like Ricks is offering the "gold" level panel. That is good!

Re: Platinum standard PUI door panels?

I just picked up a set of the PUI platinum panels and they look much better than the gold editions I ordered last year and promptly returned. The metal trim is rounded almost identically to the originals and the pleats are flat and crisp unlike the puffy pleats on the gold editions. So far they are the best reproductions I've seen. I haven't installed them yet and won't be getting to it for a few more weeks so we'll see how the fit goes.

If anyone is interested in close up pictures of the pleats and trim, I can take some and get them posted.

Re: Platinum standard PUI door panels?

Thanks for the info Tony, and pics would be great. Just finished painting my interior floors and roof so door panels aren't far off for me.

Thanks!

Re: Platinum standard PUI door panels?

Here are a couple of pictures of the PUI Gold Editions that I got originally and returned due to poor trim quality and pleats that were way too puffy. The GE trim really pissed me off and forced me take a bunch of pictures, annotate them and and send to PUI ( there were more pictures than these with much more descriptive language that I won't post here).

Here are close ups of the Platinum Edition panels I just got. The pleats are much crisper, less puffy and generally much closer to the original contours. The trim is rounded at the edges almost like the originals, which is way better than the blunt cut Gold Edition trim.

Tony, do you have any pics of the top curved portion? What is made out of? I am debating on having my originals recovered vs buying the platinums.
