You might try your yellow pages for TV/radio repair but there are not many shops still in business. I did google it and came up with a few possibilities. You might call one and see if they are aware of one near you.

If it works it works. I don't see what needs to be checked out.

Re: 69 camaro AM radio repair shop?

There is a place on the north side of Houston that has been around for a long time and comes highly recommended. We've had a radio repaired there. They do good work and are very reasonable. If the radio is working properly, there is probably nothing to repair and in that case as already suggested I'd just leave it alone. If something goes wrong later, it's easy to remove. You can always give them a call and discuss what they can do for you.

Re: 69 camaro AM radio repair shop?

I just had my original AM/FM completely gone through by a guy named Robert Pacini - email is oldstereo@hotmail.com. He is not far from you in upstate NY. He did an excellent job repairing the output transistor on my radio to get it working again. Also went through and replaced capacitors, adjusted tuner, etc. I thought he was pretty reasonable for all the work he did. He charges $150 for a complete overhaul, but might be less than that for just a basic cleanup and refresh. He will also add an aux input for MP3 for $50. Mine is back in with a new speaker, and actually sounds pretty darned good for what it is. (I added the MP3 at the urging of my teenage daughters. )

Echo Robert Pacini, he does good work and is very responsive. My stereo light didn't work when he returned it to me, told him the issue, sent it back and he fixed it no charge.

You might consider replacing with an original AM/FM radio. The guy that was suggested might have a AM/FM from a 69.Just a thought.
