Is this one of our kits? Did you speak with me?
The noise you describe as flapping is difficult to diagnose without really hearing it. I need more information to even try to suggest what it might be. What I would suggest is that you take the car to a well known transmission shop and ask them to test drive it. A transmission specialist deals with this sort of thing all the time. With all due respect to your mechanic he may not be as experienced at transmission diagnosis. If this noise has developed after a couple thousand miles it could be anything. Call me to discuss this and I'll see if I can help you out.

Re: TKO Sticky????

yes, its one of your kits. i have had it to 2 mechanics and both say its coming from the gearcase. they both say its normal and not to be worried about it breaking or anything like that. i emailed twice and got no response i called and did speak with someone who went on about each engine having like a harmonic at a rpm and changing manifold vaccum ports for timing. it didnt change. the noise is coming from the case below my shifter( a little forward of it). again most noticeabe in 5th.

E mail me your number and I'll call you. It is true that in overdrive the engine is pushing the car down the road at a lower rpm and a faster speed than it did with the four speed. If the engine rpm is too low it can cause lugging or strange harmonics or both. Let me get all the facts and maybe I can help.

Re: TKO Sticky????

i agree ,i do have an engine 350 430 hp designed to power up at 3000 rpm and at 70mph i'm at 2000-2200 rpm .normally i would agree but during the first 1000-1500 miles it was so quiet and never made the noise. the first time i noticed it was on the highway 75-80 mph and let off the gas. thought i had a flat tire and pulled over. nothing visible tires were fine.since then its been there. thx ajs

Re: TKO Sticky????

The reason for no call from Jim is that he is at the Columbus Good Guys show in Ohio - he left Thursday a.m. and will be back on Monday.
At the risk of over simplifying, you can always pick up the phone and call Jim on Monday - just a thought.

what would be too low of rpm? i never drove the car with a 4 speed, when tranny was new it never made the noise?

Re: TKO Sticky????

Adam-
As Jim is physically out of town on a personal vacation and unable to see his emails - this is why he has not responded to you. Jim is our best tech and he is the one you need to talk with.
If you would like, I will call Jim on his cell phone and give him your phone so he can call you from Ohio.
Email me (jeff@cms-grp.com) your phone # and I will get in touch with Jim.

This is why I would like to talk to you. I don't know the details of the noise. Rpm, speed, what gear etc. I need more information to try to determine what's wrong. I called the number you e mailed me (sorry I was in Columbus Ohio at the Goodguys show Thursday to Saturday) and you weren't there. I'll try again on the 21st or 22nd.

Re: TKO Sticky????

I would like to commend CC5S for there Awesome customer service. I bought my Tremec full conversion kit from them and they have been remarkable on questions and issues. I had the driveline end up being too short, so they had a custom one made for me at no expense. They also went beyond my expectations. Todd, Jeff and Jim, thaks so much and I hope to have it on the road in the next week or two.

Re: TKO Sticky????

Hey guys, check this T56 out and tell me exactly how the shifter works on it? Would it be better for locating the shifter in the stock hole on our first gen cars?

No one answered you in three months ...

This is a design of T56 that uses remote shifter which is attached to the transmission using strut arms with bushings. This is required because many newer RWD cars, incl Mustang, CTS-V, GTO.

While something could probably be rigged up a gen 1 or 2, it would be time consuming and the result would be inferior to a more standard approach, like our T56 PerfectFit kit.

Check out this thread and you can pull up a large image of the T56 PerfectFit kit.

I replied to your other thread a moment ago, and mentioned you should look at the Blue T45RS kit for $1299. (see image below)

Shafi
Welcome to the site.
This is a Sticky thread and isn't really used for ongoing conversation. His question was answered on another thread and backed up with a PM.
