Remember that many g-body cars had the 200-4r and naturally aspirated 231ci engines coupled with 2.56 and 3.08 gear ratios. While not optimal, it does work. The shift points will be off for your combo given the different governor calibration. My GN had a built 200-4R, when out of boost that car was just a little 231ci engine making minimal power. I had 3.42s and a 28" tire, never an issue. 10 second ETs and 27MPG. I worked at Dynotech in NJ before Eric passed away, on a few customers' cars we even went down to a 3.23 ratio with 28" tires. A stock 327 should have no problem making as much as or more power than a little V6 at cruise speed.
