I just purchased a Muncie that is supposed to be an M-21.
The numbers are as follows:
The tail piece has 3884085 casted into it.
The front shaft has the single groove with thick splines.
Can anyone identify"
Trans was originally an M-20 as verified by P9ToA THe last letter, A =M-20 , B=M-21, C= M-22.That being said ,the single ring on the input shaft is the identifier for an M-21, two rings M-21, no rings M-22 or replacement input that had no identifier rings.
This trans appears to have been rebuilt at one time using close box parts.
Thanks for the info
I knew it was just rebuilt. Will the Hurst comp+ shifter and linkage work with the M-20 case. I hope there isn't any difference. This whole thing is turning into a lot more than planned.
But, I'm not grumbling!!!!!! ain't nothing like shaking hands with 500+hp
No difference in Hurst shifter. Just be sure you have the correct shifter as far as the style shifter arms that are to be bolted to transmission. Early trans (63-67)have a stud with attaching nuts and later trans (68-up use a bolt to hold arms on.These arms are not interchangable
