Re: Cocktail Shaker Confirmation

hey weigh a LOT, 25 pounds or so. I haven't atcually put one on a scale, but have carried them around a lot. It takes 2 hands.

They contain a heavy piston, spring loaded top and bottom, in a cylinder full of oil. The Chevy engineers of the day found them nesesary.

They wouldn't be found in a thirdgen.

Re: Cocktail Shaker Confirmation

I bought some for my 67 that were from a 67 bird and they are the same. I think 67 and 68 are the same on camaros and firebirds.

Re: Cocktail Shaker Confirmation

Our car is missing all 4 of the cocktail shakers and I have been watching ebay for some. I won this one...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...240997659&rd=1

But the nice seller negleted to mention that the lower mounting tab was ripped in half. So I think I will just try and fab up some thing for the lower mount.

I have a few dumb questions, will it hurt it if I weld a bracket to the shaker when it is still full of fluid?

Does anyone have a good close up pic of the lower bracket I can see so I will have a better idea what I am making?

I looked but couldn't seem to find a part # on it, where are the part #'s stamped on these things?

And lastly, right now the car doesn't have any shakers on it so Once I get this one finished should I install it right away or wait untill I have at least found one for the Driver side?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Cocktail Shaker Confirmation

I've been restoring my 68 ragtop and wondering where the "well liner" goes. Does it attach along the same bolts that the back (or bottom) of the top?

Re: Cocktail Shaker Confirmation

DO NOT weld directly to the cocktail shaker while it is full of fluid. Any heat build up will expand the fluid and potentially burst through at the point of the weld. Instead, weld something to the remaining portion of the bracket, or drain the fluid (if that's possible).

Scott, those are 69 versions! The 2nd and 4th one in the pics are the fronts. The long leg goes on the 2nd to last bolt that hold the fender extension on. The 2 horizontal arms bolt to the ends of the radiator support and the short center leg sits on top of the inner fender near the hole for the turn signal grommet. There is a decent drawing of the mounting in the AIM, you have that, right?

The rears are the 1st and 3rd. When mounted the shaker is under the qtr support, not sticking out into the trunk.
