GM Nationals No More....

Just noticed on the Carlisle website that the GM Nationals title has been rebranded and now called the Carlisle Chevrolet Nationals.

Now lets hope the hard heads who run the Camaro Nationals decide to come back to their senses and bring that event back to Carlisle where it belongs!!!

Re: GM Nationals No More....

I went to the first Camaro Nats @ Fredrick.....as a 1st Gen owner....is was kind of boring due to lack of "things to do". (not many vendors and no swap meet)

It may have changed ?

Re: GM Nationals No More....

Having a huge swapmeet IS a HUGE advantage for having Camaro Nats at Carlisle along with other Chevys (and GMs), although I do like the 'closeness' of everything 'Camaro' at Frederick... but their tiny to no swapmeet is a huge disadvantage.

Tiny swap meet at Frederick (the few vendors there don't have much) but the town itself is nice. Downtown is really pretty and there's lots of great restaurants.

Re: GM Nationals No More....

There is no more separate Nova Nationals anymore as they have moved it to the Carlisle venue for 2017. Some think it's great, some not so much.

Re: GM Nationals No More....

Last year was the first year these two were on separate weekends, GM Nats and Camaro Nats. I went to both, probably my last trip to Frederick. The GM show grew by a small amount, great weather for both shows. If they could figure out how to pull like Fords and Vettes it would be a great show. Having a bunch of smaller shows converge would be the only way. I think someone said there is a GTO or Pontiac show the same time too.

Re: GM Nationals No More....

Both (Maryland Camaro Club & Carlisle Mgmt) sides should quit this tit-for-tat baloney and start looking at the betterment of the hobby as a whole. Like everything I'm sure it all comes down to control, money and who gets what and whatever.

Now that the Nova folks have seen the light, maybe other Chevy clubs will follow suit and have a great Chevrolet Nationals ----- just like the mopar / ford folks.

If the Camaro nationals stay in Frederick....then so be it. They can stay there and wither in boredom - no parts / food vendors - nice town but still BORING.

As the Chevrolet Nationals grow, the event itself will hopefully become another mopar / ford nationals, then WE the can have a large event to look forward to every year.

Being a newbie who owns a Nova but is logged into a Camaro site, it would be best for me to just say..."I'm glad guys around here have a good sense of humor" rather than go on and on about the glorious virtues and beauty of the 2nd gen Nova.

I, for one, hope it stays in Frederick..... until I can sell my house and move to PA. Planning on moving about 20 minutes from Carlisle.
