Question Jack to keep in trunk

What does everyone keep in there cars for a jack if you get a flat tire? I have the original bumper jack but I would not want to try to use it. I am looking for a small jack to keep in the car that will go low enough to fit under the car. I am thinking a small light floor jack or a sizzor jack of some kind.

I would find a small floor jack that comes in the plastic case. Hey good christmas gift.

I found a small floor jack that came in a canvas bag, which I like better since it is less likely to slide around like the plastic case would. Got it at Pep Boys for about $30. Time is right, as I think I got it on Black Friday.

Either of those is good, plus a bungee cord to hold it somewhere and a cheap 18" breaker bar with 3" extension and deep socket.

Personally, I just do the same thing I do for my motorcycle: a foot pump and self vulcanizing tire plug kit. If I have a honest to God blowout I'm screwed.

What do you think I could keep in this trunk...

If I do get a flat the spare won't fit anyway..

Dave, you could still put a spare on just to get home. It would just look like a Jenny Craig "before and after."

Re: Jack to keep in trunk

My car came with a space saver spare from a newer car and no jack. I don't carry either. But I do carry towing on my insurance (extra $1 or so a month I think).

You can put like three inside each one of the rears you run now.

Re: Jack to keep in trunk

A quality Scissors Jack that you can slide under the front Lower Control Arms and Rear End. The OEM Jack SUCK's and will damage the bumpers.

I agree, comb the junkyards for a scissor jack.It should fit inside the rim of your full size spare.Way better then any bumper jack.Good luck.

Re: Jack to keep in trunk

I am staying with the original jack. I haven't used it in 42 years. I most likely wonít be driving more then 500 miles a year and beside that my insurance has free roadside service.

Re: Jack to keep in trunk

I got a Jack out of an 86 Pontiac 6000, wrapped it in a piece of Felt, and hid it behind the spare. Works great.

Re: Jack to keep in trunk

Ive got the original jack and base but I also store a bottle jack in a box in the wheel well, with a 4 way speed wrench under my spare tire. Id never use the original jack either
