When commanding ECM into diagnostic mode, all the solenoids/relays activate, i.e., EGR solenoid opens, cannister solenoid opens, IAC seats into its port, and fan(s) comes on.
Listen for f/pump to come on for 2-3 seconds after key is turned to IGN with ECM in normal mode. After key on, then start engine. If ECM receives dist pulses, then f/pump comes on, spark is generated, and injectors are pulsed open.
Since you have no codes, I'd check spark - spark would say dist module is working, check for fuel at rail - see Schrader valve by dist; no spark would say module overheated/broke.
IAC could be remaining open.
