Open trunk and glove compartment without key?

Hey guys.

I just my first 68 camaro home from the states. But somewhere during the shipping from USA to Sweden the keys got lost.
The trunk and glove compartment are locked and I need some tips on how to get it open so I can change the locks.
I have removed the rear seat but I can't reach the locking mechanism.
Any one got some ideas?

Thanks

Instead of tearing your car apart. contact a locksmith he would love to work on your old car lock for a few bucks...

its safer and he can cut you a new key on the spot.

A long flat screw driver can turn the lock mechanism through the back seat brace.
I was able to reach up and to the top of the glove box and release the latch by hand, it was a struggle.
The glove box liner is cardboard so you can go through it too...

Locksmith will be fairly cheap and unless you plan on never shutting the trunk again you're going to need one to cut some new keys anyway.

I always found the glove box lock funny. It's like putting a padlock on a paper bag. Then again everything security-wise on these old cars is for honest thieves only.

Re: Open trunk and glove compartment without key?

if you open the trunk or glove box as stated above then you could drop the glove box door or the trunk lock cylinder off at the lock smith for key fitting

that may save you a few bucks

in '68 the same key is for both items, so hopefully only one component would have to have to be decoded, and a key cut

If memory serves me, the ignition switch and doors are the same key and glove box and trunk lock are another. You are going to need to visit a locksmith either way. I would follow suggestion to get glove box open and take the lock out and take it to locksmith. I would take a lock out of the door and take it to locksmith as well. Get both keys made and you should be back in business.
