Lint Free Towels

I'm having trouble finding lint free towels to use for building an engine. Any good recommendations out there?

Re: Lint Free Towels

I never liked paper.
I always used rags such as bed sheets, pillow cases or tee shirts

Have you tried a paint supplier? Also, believe it or not, Harbor Freight has nice packs cheap.

No, shop towels are not lint free. Most shop towels are paper based and have a ton of lint inbedded in them. If you hold one up and shake it, you will see a microscopic snow storm.

Re: Lint Free Towels

So you need a cloth rag then ?

Regardless what you use, I think there will be "some" lint ????

Yes, cotton is what I am learning to be best and only after you wash it and dry it a few times. HD has good painter rags that are cotton. I will buy a bag of those and wash/dry a few times and see how they perform. Then I will post the results.

Re: Lint Free Towels

Every shop I have ever been in uses red shop towels they get from a linen supply (same folks that do their uniform shirts). These same towels are available at auto parts stores everywhere and are also available for sale from the linen supply that services repair shops! I don't know that they are 100% lint free but that is what even very high end builders tend to use.

This might be more to your liking...

Re: Lint Free Towels

The only lint free towels I've seen in the automotive industry are body shop prep towels. These are used in the booth when your doing final wipe down.
