Gone 69 Camaro SS Conv.

Here's a good one for you! This is hard to believe but honestly it's the truth. In 05 a friend loaned a guy that had a small dealer ship 50,000 dollars. As collateral the dealer issued him a bill of sale for a 1969 SS 350 conv. the guy had on the lot. If the dealer defaulted my friend had the paper work to take the car. The dealer asked my friend if he would leave the car in the showroom as an eye catcher to bring customers in, he said he would. The deal and paper work was worked out. My friend has the original title to the car the protecto plate and the dealer paper work turning the car over to him. The dealer would pay him 2k a month till the 50,000 was paid back. The dealer paid timely for 5 months then he and the car disappeared. We're talking 12 years now. Just curious is there anyway the vin 124679n621160 can be traced to find out if the car is still around. If anyone can find it he's willing to offer a a sizable reward. Thank you.

Well the statute of limitations is gone to even sue the dealership. However, it might be easier to find the owner of the dealership and ask him. Do you have his name? Or is this just a joke and I am wearing donkey ears. LOL

Was the car ever reported stolen ?

Without a report, I'm betting you're not going to have much luck or a leg to stand on......sorry.

Re: Gone 69 Camaro SS Conv.

This is not a joke! The guy that did the loaning who is my cousins husband was an executive for the CSX Railroad and he has a few bucks. He said a man who he went to church with had a son who had this small car lot (I shouldn't have previously said that it was a dealer ship) and his son needed some financial help. Being a good guy my cousins husband loaned him the money and the Camaro was collateral. My cousin and her husband moved from MD. to Florida, the cks came for 5 months. Then the next one was late, they called and the guy said his dad died and he was a little short but he would get the ck to them. A few months later another ck showed up, the following month no ck they called no answer at the car lot. They called friends and were told all the cars were gone and no one new where the guy was. Cousins husband had some health problems, lost a son and just kinda gave up on it. He's on a rampage now and is thinking about a PI. He does have some court papers and police reports on it but they can't find the car or the guy. I'm trying to help, I just thought with today's technology that a Camaro forum having the vin. # 124679n621160 would possibly be able to locate it. The worst part is if everyone started checking vins and someone unknowingly had it and didn't know that it was, I guess you could say stolen they wouldn't want to say anything. Like I said earlier we have the dealer bill of sale from where the dealer bought it and a bill of sale to my cousin from the dealer. Also he has the original title. Anyone have the capabilities to run this vin # through all the Motor Vehicle Adm. in the states?

Re: Gone 69 Camaro SS Conv.

Even if you find it I could have been claimed as abandoned. Statute of Limitation Expired most likely long ago.

So the question of the day is "Why didn't he do something about it 12 years ago?"

Re: Gone 69 Camaro SS Conv.

The other link shows the OP was inquiring about 21610, although there is some good info on this vehicle (21160) being on eBay from a dealer. It's funny how dyslexia is playing a big part in this post as well as the older one. Either that or I'm the Dyslexic one! haha

Not sure I follow you. I cut and pasted the VIN so no dyslexia there...

"Hi guys, going to look at a 69 pace car that is being auctioned off soon and I don't know what kind of paperwork it has.I was wondering if I gave you the VIN you could give me the approx.build date and approx body # sequence so in case there;s no paperwork I could make sure the trim tag is at least on target.VIN is124679N621610.Thanks in advance.Paul"

Brett is right. The other post linked is for a different VIN. The first post (above) shows 1610, but everyone else in the thread comments about 1160. Dyslexic.

Re: Gone 69 Camaro SS Conv.

I don't necessarily agree there is nothing that can be done now. I believe the proper title holder can reclaim his/her possession from the current possessor. That possessor would have to turn around and get his/her money back from the person the vehicle was purchased from. And so on and so on. Until the person that "stole" it is responsible for the debt. I believe the UCC covers this topic.

In June 2015, there was an internet article about a woman who got her 72 corvette back 43 years after it was stolen.

Re: Gone 69 Camaro SS Conv.

Gary, the first post (above) comments on 1160, not 1610 . below is cut and paste from Mark C from the other thread. apparently he has a record of it. you have to read past the first post in the thread

124679N621160

ST12467 NOR 288011 BDY
TR 720 50A PNT

Cars been on Ebay before, been extensively restored, entire undercarrage and firewall is painted white, trim tags been off the car and is held on by some weird rivets but it is a real tag. It's a 350 4 speed car, with a rosewood wheel, power top, tilt wheel, power steering, endura bumper, flow master exhaust. A dealer had it the last time it was on Ebay.

Yes, that is why I commented about the "Good Information". It has data on the car in question, it was just some of the information was referring to another car? anyhow, it was confusing....
