Re: Please recommend best Anti-theft system for '71 Camaro

Many years ago when I moved to Texas i was living in a corporate apartment in a not too great part of town. Just before bed one night I went out on the balcony and heard a loud bang followed shortly thereafter by screeching tires. A tree obstructed my view so I had no idea that it was the sounds of my beloved pickup being stolen. I was a little chapped that I did not see them but the truck was recovered the next day with damaged door handles and a busted column. A couple of weeks later after I had moved out I was watching the local news and saw that someone was shot confronting a car thief in that same apartment complex. The point I am trying to make is it is ok to try to passively deter theft but rushing in to intervene may not be wise...

Alarms and ignition shut offs may only stop the "honest/amateur" thief, but in most cases, that's who you need to worry about. I have both on my cars and haven't had any issues so far, although a fellow I know had his Chevelle convertible stolen at Puyallup this year. It didn't have an alarm or an ignition shut off.
