IMO, it would be a good deal if the heads have not been shaved ever.
But still, $100 for a pair is not a bad price - nice daily driver heads

Buying old heads is sometimes a crapshoot...hard to see cracks and other damage that can make them large paper weights.

I think 100 a pair is a very good price though if they are in good condition.

Sounds like a good price if you need a set and they were in good shape.

Re: 186 heads - did i pass up a good deal

I was thrilled to get a single 186 head for a friend's Z for $125, about 5-6 years ago. We were lookinf for a replacement for one cracked head. Found 1 within 1 day of his originals. I would have paid twice the price for the date. They were the smaller valves, but he got them cut.

Re: 186 heads - did i pass up a good deal

Hope you have the name of the seller.. Give him a shout and see if he'll let you take 'em to a reliable shop of YOUR choice to have them checked out..
Just sold a set of bare 462s for 275 in great un-tortured shape, but BARE. Guy was after proper dates and was going to get them all done up with new valves and springs..
Chem them out if you still can..

i was at the canfield swap meet over by youngstown, oh, the reason for me wanting these heads was to start gathering parts for my 302 build hopefully getting started within the next couple years, but i thought id pass on these because i just didnt want to get burned on a used set of heads, you never know if there cracked or what not, even though they looked good and i should have picked both sets up. and no, i dont have the guys contact info.
