Re: 69 camaro barn find x-55 whats it worth?

Need more detail and pics would help. Tally up with what it would cost to bring it up to the level you want, and error on the side of too much. Take that amount and subtract from the end value of the car and that would be how much it is worth. Just off hand your talkin 3 grand for quarters and most likely inner and outer wheel wells and trunk floor. 5g for drivetrain rebuild. 3-6 grand for paint. 2 grand for interior. A grand for tires and wheels. Then there weatherstripping, emblems, chrome, glass, fluids and belts, stereo. Now for the up grades! Drivetrain, suspension, exhaust, wheels. You can see you get up there pretty quick approaching 25-40 grand . . . .what about labor? How much can you do or have it farmed out at 40 to 65 and hour. Good luck!

I sold a X-55 all original car that needed total restoration about 5 years ago for 10k. It was also a barn find with no interior.

With that kind of logic, the seller would have to pay the buyer to take it ! You are right that it costs a lot to restore it, but you have to think about the enjoyment level etc. and what it will mean to you.

You can't buy much of a first gen for cheap anymore.

This much fun can't be free !

both the last 69's ss car's that i was interested in went for 9-10k, one had everything matching and was in fairly good shape.if i could find a decent ss project here for less i would have it.

Re: 69 Camaro barn find x-55 whats it worth?

After all that I paid 13 to 17k for my 3 SS cars over the last few years. I put 5K into the 38K mile RS/SS with 24 options, 6 into another and 22 into a frame off restoration on a BB RS/SS show car. None of the cars needed metal work and 2 no engine work. Good luck and it is a fun, I been doing this for 49 years!!!!!

Re: 69 Camaro barn find x-55 whats it worth?

The first car I "restored" was a 37 Ford that I got when I was 14. Well here it is 65 cars later and my wife still loves when I turned 64 this April. Young at heart and the love those heartbeats of America!
