Beautiful garage Fred. Very comfortable looking shop. Usually I'm not big on the new Camaros, but I really like the lines of yours. It seems like it's a little different and truly new muscle. Your 69, well that one goes without saying...

You're kind of a "glass 1/2 empty" kind of guy aren't you lol? That's one way of looking at it, but I look at it as a place to get some ideas for my own garage. Kind of like the Garage Journal.

Yep, it was a curious post, seeing as that was the whole idea of the thread.

Re: Show Me Your Garages

I wanted to do a frame off on a 1956 Bel Air and my 2 car garage just wasn't big enough so I bought a 30 X 75 steel building. I hired 4 guys to put it together and they had it complete in just 6 days. They work together on a construction crew that put these buildings up. They were laid off at the time so this was a side job for them. They were very fast and did a great job. I love my new shop.

Re: Show Me Your Garages

Another thing: We live on 5 acres but that doesn't mean we have room for a bigger shop than the one we built seen in those recent posts. The shape of our land is more like a chili bean. That means the garage is 10' too short compared to what it should be. It's 32' long but I would prefer 42". Oh well.

Thanks Fred.

I ran into a "snowball effect" when I put up this building.

It started out as just a plain steel building, then I decided I wanted insulation. Then I needed interior walls to protect the insulation. LED exterior lighting was next on the list, then I sprung for electric doors, more interior lighting (for my aging eyes) and finally a lift (for my aging back). Needless to say I went over budget.

Re: Show Me Your Garages

Steve
One thinG about copying yours I thought of yesterday; Covenants.
All the land around here is controlled by covenants. One of the specifics is that all buildings must be stick-build on SITE. No factory homes and no steel. But it would be a minor requirement to change in order to use a design like yours. Also, after quizzing our builder about roll-up doors like yours, he said they were not available in the width we needed. Drat.
Also again: Budget
One of the last times I used a Budget was when I bought my Camaro nearly a half century ago. They're just too restrictive. But make sure there's cash available. Very important. DO NOT BORROW MONEY.

Re: Show Me Your Garages

That looks like you have more room then in my house. Great setup.

In SD you must have a snow thrower or plow someplace.
