I have a 1968 pontiac firebird. I want to put in a different rearend. I have two to choose from: a ten bolt 8.5 inch out of a 1973 Nova, and a ten bolt 8.5 inch out of a 1978 Camaro. Which one would be easier to install? What gears should I use? I have a 327 Chevy motor that makes about 325 horsepower and a 2400 stall converter. Any help would be appreciated!

Use the rear end from the Nova, the one from the Camaro will not fit without modification. The Camaro rear end in 1" wider and has the spring perches in a different location.

The nova rearend will bolt right in but you will have to shorten your drive shaft about 1.5". The pinion yoke on a 8.5 is longer than an 8.2 .
