Does the handle come out easy from a 3138 shifter. The reason I ask is I'm watching the cost of these shifters on Ebay. I can't figure out why some 3138 shifters with the 5325 handle are selling for as much as $200. apart. They seem to be of the same quality. Maybe the handle is froze in place??

Anyone know why the huge difference in cost??

the 5325 stick is a press in design. The stick bottom flange is pressed into a sandwich of rubber and sheet metal that fits into the neck of the shifter. The sheet metal also has a catch/lock design that fits into a notch in the stick bottom flange and prevents it from coming out once the catch/lock snaps into place.
It can be stuck in pretty tight on a old unrestored shifter.
Sometimes removal will destroy the sheet metal catch/lock and require replacement.
