I plan on finishing my 69 vert project this year so I am trying to get a schedule and game plan in mind. Should I have the top replaced before or after paint and does anyone know a good reliable shop in OK to put a top on. I don't want paint on the top during that stage, but I also don't want paint damage while top is being installed. Advice?

From personal experience, it all depends on how much you trust either the shop putting the top on, or the shop painting your car. The last one I did, I had the top done first. Good thing I did, as their was glue all over the ready for paint body. On the other hand, be sure that if you have a new top before paint, be sure it is covered extremely well.

I did all the demo work, then wraped the frame (after it was painted)and did the install of the new top after the new paint. I think it was a good way because the area where the top conects to the body was the most in need of work on the whole car, I would hate to find it after I painted. It worked for me. All at the same time all apart. Bottom side of the car I did the year before.

Paint first, top last - same way the factory did it. Any trim shop worth their salt will adequately protect adjacent painted areas with pads while installing the top.
