I have a hurst shifter that came out of my 69 z with a part number of 2083 on the casing. It is not a bolt on handle, it is the clipped in type. Is this the correct shifter for my car? Thanks. Blake

welcome to the site
there were many round stick Hurst shifters and you can't always tell by the number.
here is a picture of 1969 Camaro on left (long offset neck)
middle is mids 70s Firebird
right is 70 Camaro

Joe58, What's the diff between handle on middle pic and 69z handle? I have what looks like the later firebird or camaro shifter but my handle looks like a 69.

the shape and size is different. It should have a number stamped on the flange of the shifter. 69 Camaro is 5325

www.mrgasket.com used to have a complete listing of every Hurst shifter and what they were installed on.

Mr G Hurst site is good for aftermarket Hurst info but does not have the OEM Hurst info at least last time I looked it didn't

I checked that site, nothing. I should have said my round Hurst handle has a 7244 number on it.

I just remembere I found a site where this guy rebuilt shifters and seemed to be quite knowledgeable. I would put it in here but don't know how, but will tryhttp://precisionpontiac.com/shifterfaqs.htm
