View Full Version : Will a 68 chevy Impala rear fit? mnm99 Feb 8th, 07, 12:41 PM Just a shot in the dark? Not even sure if it's leaf springs? TJS69 Feb 8th, 07, 01:00 PM Not easily. Those are too wide and coil springs. dubs68camaro Feb 8th, 07, 01:10 PM I'm thinking it will have the eyelets on the top of the carrier like a Chevelle. Too wide and too much work for what you will have when you are done. Nice car though! big gear head Feb 8th, 07, 06:38 PM The Impala 12 bolt makes a nice rear end for a Camaro or Nova because the center casting looks like the Camaro/Nova casting, with no eyes. The brackets are all welded to the axle tubes. The center casting is actually thicker than the Camaro/Nova casting. You can remove the brackets from the tubes and narrow it to make it any width you want. Weld on the smaller car housing ends and some spring perches, get a set of axles and you have a Camaro 12 bolt. This does require a housing fixture to line up the ends before welding. pdq67 Feb 8th, 07, 07:59 PM Freddie, Now this is cool to know!! Thanks for sharing.. pdq67 |
