Looking to see if anyone can show me what the setup looks like for a multi leaf spring setup. Specifically I would like to see what the mounting is supposed to look like where the springs "mount" to the spring perch and the bottom plate. This is for a 69 SS --- I am questioning whether or not my car has been modified. On my other Camaro that has had lots of work done to it in the past, it is diferent than my original car (the SS). The one that has been altered was originally a mono leaf, but they changed it to a multi leaf. The SS car, when I looked at it today, had a "deeper" receiver (for lack of a better word) at the top where the springs attach. But, on the "altered" car there is set of U-bolts, and on the SS there are just bolts that go through the top plate and secure themselves at the bottom plate, with the multi-leafs in the middle.
so, trtying to figure out what is "correct" for the SS. Thanks

I think the "receiver" you're talking about is the spring perch on the axle housing, and yes it is deeper on an original mulit-leaf car.
The low performance axles (10-bolts) in base V8 and 6 cyl cars used four T-bolts to hold the anchor plates to the perches (the leaf is always just sandwiched between rubber isolators top and bottom, with the axle perch on the upper side and the anchor plate underneath.
The high performance axles (12-bolts) had a U-bolt on the outer postion on either side, and T-bolts in the inner position on each side.
CRG indicates that some of the 69 L48 auto cars could have a 10-bolt multi-leaf rear, but I think the only documented cars were Glides and not Th350s. If your car has a 10-bolt, the T-bolts all around would make sense.

Steve, your Multi leaf perches should have a u-bolt mounted around the axle tube and through the perch and then the shock plate, on the outside (tire side)... The inside should have the T-bolts from the perch to the shock plate...(with the multi-leaf sandwiched inbetween.) That is how mine is set up and I believe it is factory, except for the new leafs I installed...Hope this helps...:)
Here is a photo: (looks like I need to detail my rearend...:clonk: )

Thanks guys... I GET IT NOW :) -
I just got confused because my "original" car (the SS) was one way, and the black car (modified) was s different way. Yes, my SS is just like yours Mike, but my friend that was looking it over today noticed that one of the "T" bolts on one side was a 3/8" in bolt, and the one on the other side was a 1/2" --- then on the "non-original" car there were 2 U=Bolts on eash side, so it was quite confusing. And, since my 3rd Camaro is completely torn apart I had no reference point to know wht was correct. Add to that the fact that the suspension on the "altered" car is pretty jacked up and needs to be addressed, and I was spinning..... maybe I need to go out and get another one soon so I can see something even more different, and I will just check myself into some place that has nice clean white robes and rubber walls :)
Thanks for the help guys... I appreciate it.

Do you have to put any spacers on the inside and outside if converting from single to multi leaf setup?there is about an inch spacing on either side with the new springs installed, and am concerned if I should have some sort of spacer plate in the sides beside the springs (where the bolts are) to take up the space where the spring seat meets the axle seat.
