I just bought new G.M. hood hindges and springs. Does anyone know of a good/easy way to put the springs on them? Thanks for your help.

Don't know exactly, but what I would do is, hang the spring and support some weight on the lower side to spread the coils. Then I'll place several metal rod pieces betwen the coils to make them stay in the stretched position. Locate the spring in the hinge and then remove the rods or spacers. Be careful with what ever technique you decide to use, those Sob's have a lot of accumulated force. Good luck...

With the hinge installed on the hood and the hood propped open, it's easy with a long shank screw driver. I replaced mine with no problems. Wrap something around the shank so you don't mar the paint.

I actually do this by hand. Have someone hold the hood all the way up and then hook the spring on the back mount. Grip the coils tightly and stretch it over the front hook.

It takes a good grip...but it can be done...
