I was driving home on I-5 and noticed that traffic was getting even worse than normal, so I took back roads home the rest of the way. I turn on the news and see that a Jeep Cherokee had jumped over a freeway median (that had barrier cables!) and smashed into a tour bus that was heading back to Canada! Driver of the Jeep was DOA and had burst into flames. Driver of the bus was medi-vac'd (helicopter) to the hospital. The passenger side of the Jeep hit the drivers corner of the bus. ALL lanes were stopped for hours and the backup was something like 20+ miles in the northbound lanes! Took my friend 2 hours to drive 6 miles home on the freeway tonight! Don't know the identity of the driver or the cause of the Jeep to cross the median, but the bus driver was a woman from Canada and had just dropped off a busload of children in Seattle. Prayers go out to all...

Yeah, ugly. I was heading home from Seattle today about 4:00, and the traffic info sign said "all lanes of I5 blocked northbound, expect long delays" I knew it was going to get ugly. People at my exit in south Everett (128th st)were already bailing, it was backed up for a mile or so, everyone making their way to highway 9. It had to be brutal around Marysville.
Sad to hear about the death, that section of freeway is getting notorious.

Last week, my son's ex girl friend (they are still friends) was heading home via the back roads...
The road goes below where A friend of my sons lives on the hill...
There heard this Ricer coming from way in the distance hard out plus, even said to each other..."that guy has a death wish"
Then Bang
So they jumped in the cars (country road)_ and headed down for a look...
They reconised The girls car..she is in bad shape.
The guy driving the Ricer ...Dead...wife in the back, dead, his m8 in the front ..crippled.
The driver was a couple days out of prison, for a similar offence...They had 2 children..
prayers for the guy...no way...for the children...no way they would be better off without parents like that
Son's ex girlfreind...she has a long recovery to go thru..face arms legs shattered...just very lucky...
The trouble is, this sort of thing, even in a little country like NZ is far to common.
