I have a 68 with a small block and AC. I am in the process of converting to a BB. I am not really interested in leaving the AC stuff on the car. Once the suitcase has been removed from the firewall, there is a hole in the firewall exposing the heatercore. The coolant lines for the heater core are well off to the side so there will be no clearance problem. My question is "what is the best way to cover the hole up in the firewall?" I would like the heater to still function. Will the covers that hold the blower fans on non AC cars fit on cars that have AC? Any help would be appreciated.

You can use one of these http://www.acdelete.com/pages/67-9_F-Body.htm I pesonally would keep the air conditioning.

I would like AC as well. Unfortunately, restoring one of these things is very expensive. I have been very good at disassembling the car over the last decade. Unfortunately, putting it back together has been a little slower. I really miss driving the car. My focus is to get the thing back on the road so I can enjoy it once more. I have the rest of my life to fine tune it. That is why I am trying not to butcher it as I go along. If I use the part you have suggested, I can still put the AC back later if I want. Who knows, maybe one of these days I will get tired of the noise and interior heat associated with large tube headers on a big block. I might even get tired of dealing with a clutch along with all of the drivetrain parts I tend to break due to a lead foot. Then again, nothing is quite as pleasing to the ears as a well built big block running open headers. I may never outgrow that.

There are no replacement A/C blower boxes available for the Camaro so be careful removing the ones you have as I have heard people are willing to kill to get there hands on, I believe it is the lower half of the enclosure. If push comes to shove you can always use 3/32 inch thick aluminum sheet metal to cover the hole cutting it to the shape of the opening. I am sending you a PM on parts numbers and pictures of the SBC to BBC conversion to peruse.

A nicely cut and spray painted cookie sheet will cover that hole right up.
