I'm thinking of doing the manual to p/s swap and came across this kit. Anyone deal with this guy?
He can switch the stock p/s box for the 3rd gen box with the inserts for the same price.
Does the kit look/sound complete?

Someone had a bad experience with an ebay Ps vendor. The member felt he got the run around on a leaky box. I don't know if it was the same vendor as you indicate. The post was within the last month, and either in this section or in the Bench Racing section.

Any box rebuilder should be able to upgrade your ratio either on your core, or they can provide a core to upgrade.

Also you can buy a rebuilt 3rd gen box from Autozone and buy hose adapter fittings and new rag joint.

Brian Lewis how to install 3rd gen power steering.

Dean -

I only see two things I'd be concerned about with that kit.

Brackets - There are only two of the three (no rear brace). I'm not sure if the rear brace is critical to proper mounting.

Hoses - I'd want to make sure the pressure line has the right bends on the metal ends (can't tell from pictures). Also, it looks like the return line has a straight fitting going ito the box, or it's set up for a pump with a threaded fitting). IF the end going into the box is straight and threaded, it would seem like it would stick up weird and maybe want to kink the line.

David, I'm going from manual so I would need everything anyways.

Eric, I thought there was a bracket missing in the pic, I'll have to ask the seller about that and the lines.

Thanks guys, I couldnt find the post about the leaking box, maybe they will see this post and chime in.

I read the leaking box thread, I believe it was a ebay seller in Tacoma, WA.... Rare Parts Connection
I have not dealt with them personally

The pump brackets shown on Ebay are for a 69 Camaro with long water pump, not a 67 or 68 Camaro with short water pump. This pump bracket bolts to a boss on the water pump, 67 and 68 pumps bolt to the block and the pulley offsets are different.
Just a FYI for those looking at it.

And it's missing the rear bracket, which is critical. I checked the AIM, and the small block setup is conceptually the same as my BB. There is a rear bracket that attaches to the front bolt on the driver side exhaust manifold at the top and on the side of the block at the bottom. A bolt then goes through the long slotted area on the second bracket (not the cradle) shown in the auction. Without the third bracket, there's nothing to hold the back of the pump up.

Ok guys I emailed the seller with some questions on the missing bracket and if hoses have the correct bends for a '69 with LWP. I will let everyone know what he says.
