I am looking to put inline shutoffs in my heater hoses on a BB. I want to have the option of eliminating the heater core leak because I will rarely need heat but want the system to operating correctly if needed. I did a search here and on the internet but cant find decent looking and unobtrusive shut off valves. Obviously it will be impossible to hide them completely but I was thinking some trick stainless valves or something along those lines would look alright. Anybody have a similiar setup? I am using regular heater hose, not braided.

The heater core can be simply buy passed and not connected.
If u still want the hoses in place, use a T and internally block off the exit to the heaters

Tony, in summer I had less heat infiltration from the heater core by installing this simple valve. Its made of brass and found at plumbing store... its designed for Wirsbo type infloor heat and Pex plumbing. It has 2 ridges on the ends and fit the heater hose just perfectly. Now I can turn it off or on. I only used one on the 'feeder' line, so far so good. :)

if you want something that will kind of blend in and not be really visible, get an inline vacuum operated water shutoff valve out of a mid 80's Cutlass. it is pretty compact and made out of black plastic. i'm running one in my Monte because the stock shutoff valve wouldn't fit in the Weiand intake without hitting the air cleaner.
of course, there will still be water in the system, so a new heater core might be a good idea.

Thanks for the suggestions. Jim I like your idea and would like something like what you have. I wonder if somebody sells something a little more dressy in stainless etc. I did have my heater core out and tested and it is fine. I DO NOT want any leaks with my new interior now or down the road!:noway:

Try a local ag supply place. I work on orchard sprayers and they have stainless valves is several types and sizes. They are top quality as they are made to handle some very harsh conditions. Sounds funny to have farm parts on your Camaro, but you dont have to tell your buddies where you got em! :beers:
