I'm installing Autometer speedo and tach in my '68'vert.
I've seen Camaro pictures where the tach is on the Left side, and some with the tach on the Right.
This thread shows a few examples. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?p=724932#post724932

What's your preference and why?

i've thought about that question for a couple of years now and still haven't run into a good answer. the original cars had the tach on the right, so i intend on doing so with my 69 and covan's dash panel. most modern cars, like my c5 vette, have the tach on the left. the only reason (and it's a really small one!) i can think of that the speedo be on the right is because most people are right handed and want to push the tripometer reset button with their right hand. since our cars didn't have tripometers, there were no buttons to push, so there wasn't a problem putting the speedo on the left. it may have been easier at the factory to standardize installing the speedo left and leaving the right open for the tach or fuel gauge. i think it all comes down to preference. do what you think is right for your car. that's my 2 cents...

which gauge do you care more about seeing? put it on the right. For anyone racing, that's usually the tach.

I have my tach on the left speedo on the right. No real reason just personal preference. I know stock is the other way around but I guess in all my trucks the speedo is on the right so I'm used to it, and with the Camaro the speedo was always off from trans swap or gear swaps so I never really paid much attention to it anyway. Plus my tach was always on the coulomb so now I just shift my eyes to the left a little. Plus I have a new shift light to put in as well.
