John Doyle Mar 14th, 02, 12:22 PM I remember the shot... It was one of those spongy Porcupine looking things on a plastic handle. Used for dishwashing inside of glassware & vases that you can't get your hand into.

teSSa Mar 14th, 02, 03:27 PM stupid question, but i need to be clear on this. if i'm not mistaken, i'll need quite a few paint brushes, since there will be a long wait between coats correct? just want to be REALLY prepared when i do this.
which kind of brushes though?

boodlefoof Mar 14th, 02, 04:12 PM I didn't end up having to wait too long between coats doing my trunk. By the time you get from one end of the subframe to another the section you started at will probably be fairly close to being ready for a second coat. I only used two brushes for the inside and underside of my trunk as well as my differential.
kel Mar 14th, 02, 05:20 PM Here is a hint I got from my wife of all people. Put your brushes in a sandwich baggie and store them in the freezer. They will not get hard this way.
When your ready to continue painting, simply take them out and work the bristles back and forth until they move with ease.
I had one brush that I used with por 15 and stored it in the reezer for over three months. Took it out and worked the bristles back and forth and it was like I never stopped painting.

rick Mar 14th, 02, 06:49 PM Years ago I did the inside of my exhaust pipes with POR15. I used a sponge and wire coat hanger. I wrapped the hanger around the sponge, soaked it pretty well and pushed in from both ends. Worked well.

click Mar 15th, 02, 05:01 AM SUPER ideas guys. My wife had mentioned that freezer trick a year ago working on something that needed to wait and come back. IT does work, amazing. The hanger and sponge for pipes is awesome idea too. Too bad there isnt a way to catalog all these tricks we read about or maybe we get Al and the others to print a book of them, Id gladly pay $25 bucks for that to be done in print. It also would sell in Ford and Mopar sites since the hints are mostly universal.

teSSa Mar 15th, 02, 01:55 PM thanks folks for the tips, VERY HELPFUL. no one has yet told me what kind of brushes to use since there are different ones; bristles and durability? i don't want to be more of a bonehead than i already am and have a brush that leaves all the bristles behind as i'm painting.

rick Mar 15th, 02, 05:23 PM A cheap brush, but not so cheap that the bristles will fall out. The pOR is thin and hides brush marks very well. I've even used foam brushes.

67camss/rs Mar 16th, 02, 04:33 PM I get my brushes at Home Depot. I buy the cheapest they sell. Use one and throw it away.Don't see any reason to save a brush. YMMV. http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif
