I was wondering if the 1969 radio delete plates ever came with woodgrain or were they always just the plain black.

View Full Version : Did 1969 Camaro radio delete plates ever come with woodgrain? jackhammer505 Feb 27th, 07, 09:28 PM I was wondering if the 1969 radio delete plates ever came with woodgrain or were they always just the plain black. jackhammer wagonman Feb 27th, 07, 11:10 PM i think they have..........yes.... thats my final answer........ Cal69 Feb 28th, 07, 08:45 AM I recently sold my original plate. It was black with the ribbed pattern. I have never seen a woodgrain one. SixtyAte Feb 28th, 07, 04:09 PM I have never seen or heard of a Woodgrain radio delete plate. Not to say you can't make one... Kev William Feb 28th, 07, 05:17 PM Yes there was a woodgrain delete plate. SixtyAte Mar 1st, 07, 03:50 AM William... Is that 69 specific or did they make them for 67-67 also? I imagine they did not make too may of those woodgrain delete plates..did they. Numbers ? :) Kev BLADE4444 Mar 1st, 07, 06:55 AM i heard that they reproduce these plates now, is that true? TJS69 Mar 1st, 07, 09:36 AM I have seen a woodgrain repo. in Someones catalog. wagonman Mar 1st, 07, 05:33 PM i do think that heartbeatcity has one in their add in hemmings this month...... William Mar 1st, 07, 05:50 PM 67-68 radio block off was black pebble grain only. SixtyAte Mar 3rd, 07, 07:53 AM 67-68 radio block off was black pebble grain only. Thanks William... I thought that was the case however didn't know the woodgrain was produced for the 69. Kev Larger Dave Mar 3rd, 07, 10:00 AM Now I'm no numbers matching guy, I only hack 'em up and raced them back in the good old days. It would seem to me anyone not willing to spring for a radio was either to cheap to buy a radio; in which case they would have had the econo interior (what ever base was, with rubber mats et. al.), or they were like me trying to get as close to a body in white to keep weight down (with the radio and wiring one less thing to toss). The idea of a radio delete deluxe interior with wood grain runs contrary to logic. Just my opinion. Larger Dave SixtyAte Mar 3rd, 07, 10:52 AM The idea of a radio delete deluxe interior with wood grain runs contrary to logic. Just my opinion. Larger Dave Dave, yep sure does sound a bit odd .... Kev 69camaro1 Mar 4th, 07, 01:54 PM I have never seen anything but black. William Mar 4th, 07, 02:10 PM Not that I am a big fan of it but John Hoopers "1969 Camaro Reference Book" has a couple of photos of a 69 woodgrain radio b/o plate; page 328. Plus I have seen a half-dozen or so in the last 32 years but that desn't seem to matter. SixtyAte Mar 4th, 07, 02:45 PM William... I do believe what you say. All we are saying is that its a wierd option is all. :) Woodgrain is meant to be class and to have a woodgrain radio delete option is well...odd. I know there are those who don't like radio. I guess with the right money you could get and not get anything you wanted :) Kev ccmblack Mar 7th, 07, 11:01 PM Looking at the assembly manual, pg 480 - it is pictured in wood grain for the 69. |
