As long as you don't go too deep. I wouldn't go any deeper than the boss maybe even slightly less.

I had to do this on a 70 350 Monte Carlo engine I put into a 55 Chevy. The pads were there for the front motor mounts but not drilled. I ordered a set of mounts and bolts and measured the bolt , put tape on the drill bit slightly longer than the bolt. I drilled and taped and it worked fine. Just take your time.

Thanks

Did you start small & step up in drill size or can you just drill it to the need size for the tap ?

I just used the size needed for the tap. Its only cast iron and drills easily. Go slow and don't force the bit. Tap it and you will be fine...

I'd suggest using a transfer punch to mark the hole location.

Part of bracket mounts to motor mount. I was going to mount it up to get the centers of the holes need to be drilled

Rick (Camaro67 rcl),

I just found your post. I am having the same issue with power steering pump brackets. What brackets did you use? Ricks 1st gen has 327 and 350 brackets and I am not sure what the difference is.

How deep did you drill and what size or hole did you drill?
