I am in the process of painting and reassembling the suspension of my 67 and was curious if it is necessary to coat parts with clear that are not getting painted with color (ie. front sway bar, steering gear box, brake & fuel lines, gas tank, brake booster, etc.). I was thinking this might reduce the possibilities of surface corrosion and/or rust.

Thanks in advance!

I would recommend using Eastwood Diamond Clear Aerosol on the Gearbox and Master Cylinder. Thats what I did and its those parts still look new.

I just used duplicolor engine enamel clear on everything and it's holding up great.

Clear them. Rust still looks nasty.

I have also used the Eastwood Diamond Clear. They make one for bare metal and one to go over paint. It is good stuff.
