Does anyone have a suggestion on where to buy a good alternator ?
I am looking for a decent quality, visually correct alternator for a '69 SB.
I see a number of dealers have remans and a few have new alts.
Any recommendation ?

They're quite common on Ebay, if you're not too fussy about the date codes. Or you get them at NAPA for around $50.

The problem I'm finding with the remans like at NAPA is the cases are missing the correct bolt hole on the back for the bracket.

I found mine here

they even got high amp original looking alternators.

the only purpose of the hole on the back of the alternator for the bracket is to hold things together on the assembly line to shave precious seconds off the install time. once it's installed, it serves no purpose.

???
I thought it created a triangulation point for rigidity ?

I ended up buying a new unit from NPD.
It's visually correct, except it has a gold anodized fan and no delco markings on the case. I'll just swap the fan.
