View Full Version : Installing Full Floors
TEAM CANADA Jan 31st, 04, 03:55 PM Hey, has anyone installed the newly released FULL FLOOR, the one which is complete from head to toe, including the tunnel, I've installed floors before, found it to be an average job, but I was thinking of installing this new one in another car.. any ideas/ pics ???
TEAM CANADA Jan 31st, 04, 03:57 PM This is the floor I'm talking about:

VINTAGE CAMARO Jan 31st, 04, 07:32 PM Did the one piece last week, easssssy. I wouldn't do it any other way now. More $$$$$ but it is the easiest way. Just take loose at all factory mounting points and install new one at factory points. No extra cuts, no extra weld seams, just simplicity. graemlins/hurray.gif graemlins/hurray.gif
TEAM CANADA Feb 1st, 04, 09:37 AM Cool, so did you have to remove the subframe? and the rear leaf-springs, etc.. and how did you support the car? from the rockers? any pics? the main area I'm concerned with is the rear frame rails, I guess you would have to separate them from the floor and reattach them
VINTAGE CAMARO Feb 1st, 04, 08:50 PM Front subframe removed, Front cowl supported at forward funder mounting point. Rear suspension removed and back of car supported at rear most points on frame rails. The rear frame rail to floor is actually very easy. Frame rail has flat front area and then angles upward to rear housing area. Only spot welds are on flat sections and can be easily spotted from rear floor area. Remove old pan , clean all mounting mounts carefully, remember to arm yourself with correct respitatory gear for sanding, grinding and welding on the rocker panels, (GALVANIZED) new floor comes up from bottom, back first, continue up with back until front clears, then start positioning and lower into place. Before floor goes in, it is a great time to clean the interior panels, roof frame etc. Reinstall new panel with many spot/plug welds to duplicate factory. Takes about fifteen to 18 yours for basics. Good luck.
TEAM CANADA Feb 3rd, 04, 07:09 AM Thanks, right now I've got the subframe in it, but and take it out no-problem, just finished it, and its already supported at the rear frame rails, so another question, how did you weld the front framerail are back, did you do it from underneath, or mark it, drill it from the top? anything you wish you had done before? or did it go in perfectly? Thanks :D
VINTAGE CAMARO Feb 3rd, 04, 05:31 PM On the rear framerails, I marked and drilled the floors, this created a graemlins/beers.gif good weld and from the bottom the new welds are not seen. You can still see the original indentions of the factory spot welds in the framerails. It just helped make it look like nothing had been done. I was happy about the finished product and so was the customer. I wouldn't change anything for next time.
TEAM CANADA Feb 4th, 04, 05:31 AM Thanks, I think I'm gonna go for it, I've already got a pair of regular full floors, but this complete floor, will look alot better, and easier to hide seems, I'm just trying to find some pics, looks like not too many people have attempted it.. did you do anything to the frame rails as they were exposed? and what about subframe connectors?
fireice Feb 4th, 04, 03:02 PM Was wondering where this full pan can be purchased? Looks like a great timesaver Thanks
