I know the lower bearing is impossible to find. I didn't need any other parts. The one I did is a tilt, it's a little scary taking off the upper tilt cover, patience.

I have broken down 2 columns completely to make one. It would take to long to explain why. I do have a spare shaft with a lower bearing that you could have. The shaft would do you no good cause I just noticed you have a tilt column but I think the lower bearing is the same. P/M me with your info if you want it and I will let you know how much to ship it. I will take a picture of the shaft and E-mail it to you to make sure I am not wasting anyones time.

If you need a new lower bearing for a 67, you can get it from a place called Columns Galore 1-888-326-5866. He rebuilds a similar bearing to fit. His name is Rick

I had no problem ordering a new lower bearing for my 69 Camaro Column!
Part # is 7805700 and I ordered it from GMPartsdirect.

Full details with part #s are at
http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=72518

GM Parts Direct
7800269 Bearing A (Upper Bearing) $19.54 (Didn't use, regreased existing)
7805700 Brg asm V (Lower Bearing) $16.37 (Definitely needed a new one)
7805822 Adapter (Plastic unit that the lower bearing snaps into) $5.80
5694191 Shaft lock ring (Mine is a little bent, might as well replace it) $2.74
7804414 Key Warning Buzzer Switch $9.08
7804410 Rack Preload Spring (Mine was bent to hell) $3.79

Brian, are you sure the lower bearing is the same between a tilt and non-tilt column?

The lower bearing for a 67 is different then the 69 and impossible to find.

I believe I modified the bushing from a newer GM, something like an 80"s caprice, to fit the 68 column.

This was posted a couple years ago:
"For the bottom ball bearing, I just measured the inside and outside bearing dimensions. I then went to the local farm store and picked up a sealed roller bearing for about $5 and slid it on, I then put on the bottom hardware and clip. Easy, simple, cheap fix that is better than the original."

Hope that it still works today,
Jim
