How about this ad:

I politely contact him and he says the rarity is due to the block and the color combined. OK. I then tell him that in addition to his car, I know of 5 others that are yellow and have a 388 block. So that's 6 of "3".
His response:
And where is your proof of your info.? My info. comes right from printed material that was stated on the Barrett Jackson Collector car event this past January. So I will stick with the word of the professionals in the industry. and not you.

Ooohh, now there an underappreciated source of reference material.

Lets see,

Sept 9th casting on the block, then 2 months later

November 5th build on the block, then

3rd week of December car is built.

I am not buying that block is original. Nice picture of the pad.

That car needs a restoration to make it worth $62K IMO
Lots of black spray bomb paint. For that price I want the grille painted correctly.

Whats up with the grilles not being painted correctly, we are seeing more and more of this. This fad may be gaining ground on the Caution, Fan sticker. To me, its like shaving off half your mustache and then going out in public. Look at that dumb a**.

Two Questions; 1.If I owned a Z that was worth 60-80K$ (1 of 3) why would i store it in a garage with windows.:noway: No offense to garages with windows, (I even want small windows on top door panels) but this thing is worth 60-80k$ right?2.Those numbers (look like) there on a block thats got a bit of surface rust.:secret:Dont get me wrong thats a butiful car, but like everybody else says it should be almost perfct, & take it to berret to get bigger $$$$.

According to information given in one book which I read regularly, the 388 blocks were used in later production engines, after April 1969.

Frank, thats old reading, :) CRG has info. that the ...388 block is just as common as the ...386 block. Seems even alot of the 69 pace car 350's were the ...388 block too. Many early 69 build camaros have the ...388 block, mine does (Oct of 68 built in LA) :) So the book you have is very outdated. Just an FYI for you. :beers:

Those dates are very wierd ...
Don't compare well to other cars from that time frame.

I would like to see more info on block - does it have the 'Flint' oil plug in front ???
This 388 block from a past auction didn't, made me question the origin ...

Yup, one of those 6 is yours. Feel free to email him that you have the other 1 of 1. :)

I made sure to address the 388 block usage, see
http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#BlockCast

Jim,
I definitely would not say there is a vehicle type that got more 388 blocks than others. They seem to be spread pretty evenly. LM1, L48, L65, Z28 all used that block.

Oh no Kurt... mine is the real one of one.... and because I got nothing but love for all my TC brothers... 1 million dollars for this classic beauty one of a kind 69 Z/28 with the ultra rare 388 casting that was only used in my car and the original Batmobile... anyone else it would be a million-five :D

No deal, Van. I overheard a guy here at a local show a few months ago talking about how rare his 388 block car is.

Wasnt a Z, so I figure it can be had for $600K. Mightve even been a convertible (dont really remember), so it might be $725K. :D
