View Full Version : pics of hood latch & another Unidentified part
shelbydog Mar 14th, 07, 06:43 AM Here is a pic of my hood latch (please refer to earlier post on 69 SS 396 Hood latch) Please let me know if it is the correct one as I plan to take this and several other parts to the powder coater later today.
Further, I have 4 of these that came with the car. They look like heat shields. I included a pic of one. It has this on it "K23R3274" What is this and where does it go?
Thanks very much

Not sure if I got this picture thing correct. Please let me know as it is the first time.
z28station Mar 14th, 07, 07:37 AM Hi Doug,
The picture you have posted is the hood latch for a 1968 camaro.
Camaro George:thumbsup:
rszmjt Mar 14th, 07, 10:14 AM Doug, I would not powder coat the hood latch. The heat from baking the powder will kill the integral spring. It will either relax or break allowing the hood latch not to hold the hood pin. It is a rivited assembly and the spring can not be changed.
They were supposed to be grey phosphate anyway.

shelbydog Mar 14th, 07, 02:58 PM Thanks everyone! I will not send to powder coat.
Anyone need a 68 latch? Looks like I am back on epay looking for another latch.
Here is the other part that I was not sure of. Any ideas?

68z28sd Mar 15th, 07, 02:26 PM i have a hood latch but after looking on e-bay the 69 and 70 look so close to the same i am no longer sure witch i have. is the a part number or othe id on the latch or just a good pic so i know for sure. i will sell it to you for $20 if it the right part?
shelbydog Mar 16th, 07, 09:43 AM I did not see, nor do I know if there is a part # on the latch. That has been part of the problem with finding one. I thought this would be simple. Maybe someone else on here can help us?????????? 68z, send me a pm or let me know if you need my email. If you have the correct one, we can work something out. I paid $24 with shipping for the one shown that turned out to be a 68 latch. I want to make sure the I can get the correct one.
Thanks,
Doug
